BETTER CALL A PAYPHONE

PAYPHONE BY CROWN THE EMPIRE

Crown the Empire is one of my all time favorite bands. I love them so freaking much and they were one of the first few bands which I ever listened to. I love how it’s not just one person who sings and screams; instead they have two separate people for those jobs and they are amazing together. Their voices just blend in a way that’s really hard to do with just one person.

This song is called Payphone, originally by Maroon 5, but Crown the Empire did a cover of it on a new Pop Goes Punk album which was released not too long ago if I’m not mistaken. You should definitely listen to it; it’s so amazing.

SLEEPING WITH SIRENS

DO IT NOW, REMEMBER LATER BY SLEEPING WITH SIRENS

The lead singer of this band, Kellin Quinn, as a high voice, I get that. But, honestly I’m tired of people ragging on him for that. I happen to love his voice and I think it’s beautiful and so pure; purer than any other voice I’ve heard in a long time that isn’t filled with auto tune.

SLEEPING WITH SIRENS COVERS IRIS BY THE GOO GOO DOLLS

Anyways, back to the Kellin Quinn haters. His band, Sleeping with Sirens, has been receiving a ton of hate on YouTube and such mainly because of how high his vocal range can get to. Like, I understand his voice is higher than a normal male singer, but honestly I think that’s why I like his band so much; it’s not like anything I’ve ever heard before. With a high vocal range and some killer songs, I think it’s enough to make anybody fall in love with this band, but maybe that’s just me.

YOUTUBE COMMENTS

Every time I go on YouTube and look up a video or something, there’s always this one person who will personally post hateful shit just to start a fucking argument and to get people mad and I’m so done with it. I get that everybody has an opinion and that they have a right to voice their thoughts and all, but there comes a time when something like that isn’t necessary. I know that not everybody likes or even agrees with the music that I listen to but when I go onto YouTube to look up a video or something, I don’t want to see everybody arguing and insulting the other in the comments. Honestly if those people who start that kind of crap to get a rise out of another person doesn’t like that music or song or whatever, then don’t fucking go on that page. YouTube doesn’t have a sign up telling you to view a certain page, so there’s really no fucking purpose for you to be doing messed up shit like that and I’m done seeing those things. I’m at the point now where I rarely ever even go to YouTube because I’m so fed up with seeing immature crap like that. I used to love going on YouTube and watching videos and seeing what everybody had to say about them, but now, I try to avoid those things as much as possible.

WARPED TOUR BAND ANNOUNCEMENTS 2

http://vanswarpedtour.com/bands

Okay so Vans Warped Tour announced not five bands, but six bands on Wednesday this week and the only band I really like is Bless the Fall. I mean, I’m pretty happy that the bands they announced are have at least some rock elements in them but other than that they sound like pretty generic bands. But like I said in the last post where I talked about the first announcements they made, I seriously hope they get some better bands in here that are actually full-blooded rock. I mean there’s really not a point in going to a huge rock concert if the bands they don’t have that many rock elements in them. That would be like going to a concert for a country band and expecting them to have a twangy sound and the people pop out on the stage with body paint, black and ripped clothing, and they start screaming their brains out; that’s not what the people paid for and it’s not what they wanted to hear. The same concept applies here which is mainly why I’m so upset. I honestly feel like Vans Warped Tour is trying to have a more generic sound or that they’re trying to reach out to more people to try and make more money for the tours. Like the people running the shows know that the majority of people who will attend these venues are going to want to hear rock and heavy metal, not pop or alternative music, which is mainly what they have booked so far. They also might have these pop-like bands booked maybe because they were the first people that were readily available to play at the venues or something like that. Like the people who run the venues and book the bands need to know that the band members themselves will actually be there and not busy playing other shows in other places.

POP MUSIC RANT BELOW

Okay so as you guys know I love the Pop Goes Punk albums but if you don’t, know you do. I guess I love this covers so freaking much because as much as I hate to admit this, I used to be a big fan of pop music but after I got into rock, that addiction kind of chilled so now I like to listen to pop songs but not as pop as they originally are, hence the covers by the rock bands I like to listen to. I mean some pop songs are pretty good, it’s just that there’s no original lyrics or beats encompassed in that genre these days. Everything is filled with auto-tune and the copying of past artists and their songs which I the main reason why I don’t listen to that kind of music anymore. Like, if I’m going to listen to your song, then it better be worth listening to. I don’t want to be reminded of anything song that you copied from just to have a hit that a bunch of people will like. For me, that’s not really music, that’s plagiarism and I’m not going to listen to something of that nature. It’s why I love rock music so freaking much. Almost everything I’ve ever listened to is completely original and nothing really sounds the same; every band or group has their own sound and they faithfully stick to it, which I respect. Most of these bands don’t really care if their songs are popular or not, they just want to reach out to people with their music for that’s all that matters to them. But anyways, check out the song below for a new song that I found the other day! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwtQxD2eI5g LET LIVE BY OF MICE AND MEN

POP GOES PUNK CHRISTMAS?!

Okay so for the longest time ever I have wanted a rock band to do a cover of a Christmas song and I finally found one! I’m so happy that it’s by My Chemical Romance too because I love this band to death and it also brings back some good memories of the times the band members had before they broke up a while ago.

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU BY MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE

MUSIC RANT BELOW

Okay so for a long time now, I’ve been bullied and harassed for the kind of music I listen to and honestly I’m so done with this. Like, i listen to the kind of music I like because I find joy and happiness in those songs but I get that not everybody is a fan of metal or rock. But just because you don’t fucking agree with some of the lyrics or the songs or if you don’t like how the band members look or sound, you don’t have to bitch and complain and thoroughly insult the people who actually like listening to this sort of thing. Don’t get me wrong, I know there are some people who believe that this type of music is satanist or is encouraging harmful behaviors, I get that but that’s not the case. Most people don’t fully listen to the lyrics and the meaning behind those words that are sung/screamed. All they listen to is the screaming and then judge it based on what they hear and that’s what gets on my nerves most of all. Those people don’t understand how helpful and how life-changing this type of music can be. They don’t understand that maybe these lyrics mean something to us and that we connect to these things on a much deeper level than they can even begin to comprehend. It’s also a proven fact that by listening to “emo”, “gay”, “faggot”, and “satanist” music that suicide rates have gone down by 87 percent. This music saves fucking lives; I dare you to insult it and say it’s shit. So the next time you want to harass and bully somebody because of their music tastes, why don’t you actually think about what that music has helped them through?

WARPED TOUR MOSH PITS?

Okay so I’ve heard several rumors that the people who run Warped Tour are thinking of banning the mosh pits. Apparently, people are suing Vans Warped Tour whenever they get hurt from being in the mosh pits, which I think is fucking ridiculous. During the set time for a band, there are several areas that are known for having mosh pits like the middle of the crowd and the sides. But if you go to one of these venues, you are not obligated to fight in one of these things; they aren’t forcing you to get hurt, so it’s your own fault if you get hurt, not the company that runs the shows.

Mosh pits are places where you can just feel the music and let it run through your body. It’s a big group of people and the goal of a mosh pit is to hit or punch as many people as you can but to still have fun doing it. It’s like a way to get the stress out of your body while listening to good music. Honestly, it’s on my bucket list to be in at least one mosh pit but if things keep going at the rate they’re going, then it looks like maybe that wish will go unfulfilled.

WARPED TOUR BAND ANNOUNCEMENTS

http://vanswarpedtour.com/bands

THAT LINK RIGHT ABOVE THIS TELLS WHICH BANDS ARE GOING TO PLAY AT WARPED TOUR NEXT YEAR AND THE LIST SO FAR SUCKS FUCKING ASS. WARPED TOUR IS A BIG CONCERT THING KNOWN FOR ALL GENRES OF ROCK MUSIC ONLY. GRANTED A FEW TIMES IN THE PAST THEY’VE HAD BANDS COME IN THAT ARE PUNK OR SOMETHING OF THAT NATURE BUT IT’S ALMOST ALWAYS BEEN ROCK MUSIC. NOW THE FIRST FIVE BANDS THEY’VE ANNOUNCED SO FAR ARE PALISADES, NECK DEEP, FRONT PORCH STEP, HANDGUNS, AND KOSHA DILLZ. ALL OF THESE FUCKING BANDS ARE NOTHING BUT POP OR HIP-HOP WITH A LITTLE BIT OF PUNK/ ROCK MIXED IN WITH THE MUSIC, WHICH I THINK IS AN INSULT TO THE IDEA OF WARPED TOUR. I REALLY HOPE THE REST OF THE BANDS ARE BETTER BECAUSE IF THEY AREN’T I DON’T THINK I’LL BE GOING TO WARPED NEXT YEAR.

WARPED TOUR BANDS

OKAY SO I AM SUPER EXCITED TO LEARN WHAT BANDS ARE COMING TO WARPED NEXT YEAR!! I LEARNED FROM THE WEBSITE THAT THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF WARPED TOUR ARE GOING TO START ANNOUNCING FIVE BANDS ONCE PER WEEK ON WEDNESDAY. EVERY WEDNESDAY THEY WILL ANNOUNCE FIVE MORE BANDS UNTIL THEY GET DONE WITH THE ENTIRE LIST!!! TONIGHT THEY’LL START THE ANNOUNCEMENTS AT FOUR O’CLOCK AND I’M SO PYSCHED.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

I found a new song by Crown the Empire called Initiation and I have to say, I think it perfectly encompasses some of the daily thoughts I have. Often times, I’ll think about the road ahead and what lays beyond our grasp of knowledge, which sometimes includes what might happen. And most days I wonder what will happen after I die; how long will it take for things to fall into a state of ruin or are we already at that state?

Anyways, this beautiful song is amazing and you guys should definitely and without a doubt listen to this shit if you’re anything like me.

WRECKING BALL DONE RIGHT

So, the other day I was on YouTube, looking up cover songs and I found this one and personally I think it’s the best cover that I have found so far. The song is Wrecking Ball, originally by Miley Cyrus but this cover is by a band called Owls in the Attic. Personally I have never heard of this band before, but I’m so glad I decided to give this cover a shot. I actually hated this song but once I heard the cover version, I fell head over heels in love with this beautifulness. So, watch the song below and put what you think in the comments below!

WRECKING BALL: A COVER BY OWLS IN THE ATTIC

NEW BAND; NEW SONG

Okay, recently I found this song called GET WELL BY ICON FOR HIRE. I was just trolling through YouTube and this video popped up and it’s just so beautiful to me. Every word of this song reminds me of how far I’ve come in my battle with depression; it’s like it was written for me. I think it really encompasses the struggle that some individuals (like me) are going through. It tells the story of the battle within our minds that’s a daily war And also, when the video first starts off and the scene changes, I think that’s a good representation of what happens in some peoples’ minds. For example, when the walls start closing it, I think that’s a good representation of how people feel like they can’t breathe and everything is closing in around them, trapping them. The walls represent the problem you are trying to face and sometimes you can surprise yourself by showing that you are stronger than you think and push back those walls that try to trap you inside. Also, I really wish they didn’t use the water by like dripping it down on them because I honestly feel like that whole concept is overdone these days. But other than that, I think the video and the song are awesome and you should seriously check it out below!

FALL OUT BOY?

Okay so, one of my favorite bands, Fall Out Boy, might possibly be coming here next March but I don’t know if it’s true or not; I really hope it is, honestly. They don’t go on tour very often, so I’m super exciting that there’s even a rumor of it happening because most times these kind of rumors turn out to be true. A lot of times top notch music companies will release these kind of rumors in order to gain more publicity for that band they signed and almost always, that company will make those rumors come true.

BLACK VEIL BRIDES

Okay, so I recently bought tickets the the Black Veil Brides concert tour that’s coming here on December 5 in Charlotte and I’m so pumped! Black Veil Brides was one of the first few bands that really got me into rock music and I’m so glad I decided to give them a chance. Check them out below and listen to one of my favorite songs from them.
